HOLLY MANOR

HM1.png

This hallway is the entrance into the Master Suite of Holly Manor, the 27th Annual Decorator Show House for Historic Ellicott City, Inc.   The home had been expanded and renovated several times since the late 1700s.  In this latest iteration, the current homeowners had completely renovated the entire house installing modern, ecological conveniences like geo-thermal temperature control, while maintaining the Colonial Williamsburg aesthetic they so adored.

The design of this hallway takes its cues from that traditional period but gets a fresh update.  By mixing spare forms and modern finishes with rich textures, patterns, and images from the past, it  marries colonial motifs with today's design sensibilities to create a rich and inviting passage into their private sanctuary.

As you walk into the space, you are lured by the soft palette and find a perch where you can shed your shoes, briefcase, or jacket.  A book or magazine may await you there as you lounge before heading out for the evening.
